The Vietnamese American Bar Association of the Greater Washington, DC Area, Inc. (VABA-DC) exists to promote the professional growth and advancement of Vietnamese American attorneys, encourage and facilitate the entry of Vietnamese American students into the legal profession, and contribute to the public interest by serving as a voice for the local Vietnamese American community and assisting community members with legal concerns.  As part of its mission, VABA-DC collaborates with other Asian American groups on issues that affect our members and our community.

Asian American Lead (AA Lead)

Asian American LEAD (AALEAD) was founded in 1998 to promote the welfare of Asian American youth and families through education, leadership development, and community-building.  This organization focuses on the Vietnamese, Amerasian, and Chinese immigrant and refugee communities in the Mt. Pleasant, Columbia Heights, and Shaw neighborhoods of Washington, DC and in the Glenmont, Silver Spring and Wheaton areas of Montgomery County, Maryland.

Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center (APALRC)

The Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center (APALRC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the legal and civil rights of Asian Americans in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan community through direct services, education, and advocacy. APALRC has two main goals: (1) addressing the individual legal needs of low-income and limited-English proficient Asian Americans, particularly in the areas of workers' rights, domestic violence, and immigration, and (2) advocating for broad-based systemic change on civil rights issues impacting Asian Americans.

Boat People SOS, Inc.  (BPSOS)

Formed in 1980, Boat People SOS, Inc. began as a rescue-at-sea organization, and is now a national agency with over 17 branch offices across the nation providing education, advocacy, and direct services to the Vietnamese American community.

Maryland Vietnamese Mutual Association

Officially incorporated in 1982 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Maryland Vietnamese Mutual Association, Inc. (MVMA) is the oldest Vietnamese American community-based organization in Maryland.  MVMA was founded to help resettle immigrants and refugees in Maryland. The organization helps community members secure housing, furniture, and jobs, and helps them prepare for U.S citizenship tests.  MVMA has hosted U.S. Naturalization Ceremonies and has organized annual cultural and community events such as Tet (the Lunar New Year’s Festival), the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the Annual Health Fair.

Southeast Asian Resource Action Center (SEARAC)

About: The Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) is a national organization advancing the interests of Cambodian, Laotian, and Vietnamese Americans through leadership development, capacity building, and community empowerment.  SEARAC was founded in 1979 as the Indochina Refugee Action Center (IRAC) to facilitate the relocation of Southeast Asian refugees into American society and foster the development of nonprofit organizations led by and for Southeast Asian Americans.  SEARAC serves as a coalition-builder and leader, executes  action-oriented research projects, and strengthens the capacity of community-based organizations such as mutual assistance associations (MAAs) and faith-based organizations (FBOs).  SEARAC also fosters civic engagement among Southeast Asian Americans, and represents Southeast Asian communities at the national level in Washington, DC.
